So I am beginning to learn a little sprache Deutsche , and it turns out colloquially (based on what i read online) that shitpost doesn’t have a translated word, they just say shitpost, and that it’s probably a neutral gender word, making it Das Shitpost.

Amazing.

Hope a native comes in to correct me tho

Lol. In the U.K. we get Americans going on about how people Jay walk in the U.K., but we don’t have jaywalking laws here.

It's an American law and we have to explain that American law doesn't apply here and that you can cross the road if and where it's safe to do so, you can drink under 21 years old, that your can say the word fag for cigarette or faggots for offal meatballs, etc...

Lol. There are some Americans that will look at you or even get quite irate if you say the word fag or faggot. Then you have to explain that one is a colloquial term for a cigarette and the other is meatball made using offal.

You are correct! Loan words go both ways, you adopted Kindergarten, we were too lazy to come up with new words for computer related stuff. Hardware, Software, posts..... Even the lowest educated Germans have several years of ESL under their belt, the question is how much of that did actually stick. But even the dropouts and underachievers know the words shit and post.

The next question would be the grammatical gender. Apparently some board decided that an email is gender neutral “das mail”. I’m not on board, for me it is still female like “die Nachricht”. The same goes for shitpost, I’d put it into the male camp. “Der Shitpost” But that’s just me. BTW, nobody ever corrected me or it never backfired for using the female for mail, so the verdict is still out on that one, as it is on shitpost.

We technically have jaywalking laws here, not almost nobody listens to them and the police don’t usually enforce them that much as it’s such a minor infraction. :P
